This is an almost perfect machine even thoough it is pricy. Bose has an excellent reputation and this machine is outstanding and a indicative of their quality. I took it out of the box plugged it, and put my Nano in place. The result was a room filled with music. My only disappointment was that the manufacturer did not include the little plactic adaptor for the Nano so my little Nano just sits there and is not firmly in place as should be. I do have an adaptor but I use it for another machine and the thought of removing it and replacing it each time I switch it in and out is not easy. I wish Bose either provided it or gave you instruction on how to get one. I went to the stores and they don’t have one. I went online at the Apple Store and they want to sell you three–one that is for the Nano and two that are for other machines.

This system is simply magnificent. I enjoy many genres of music as well as serious games such as the new StarCraft 2 and the sound produced by this system is awesome. If configured correctly, music played by a symphony that is listened to with this system will “put you in the orchestra hall.” Listening to Debussy I found that the system created a “picture for my ears.” By that I mean that I felt as though I could hear each section of the symphony as they would be in the hall. That sounds weird but it is as though I am in the hall listening. The Acoustimass speaker is wonderful as well. It puts out some serious bass from the modern day hip-hop music that rivals systems made for TV. You can’t appreciate these speakers in the store you have to take them home and try them. They are well worth the money. The Companion 5 system is a wonderful system for gamers as well as music lovers.

Basic facts: for a PAIR of good sounding speakers. Even after reading the reviews, I’m amazed how good they sound when I compared them to my regular 0 the speakers! You probably want to get a subwoofer to get full range with music and movies, but even then, a good budget subwoofer works fine for maybe 0-150, and these Sony’s are still a terrific deal.

Yes, you can spend a lot more to get ones that sound a bit better; but for someone on a budget, even a medium budget, these are definitely the way to go. For 0 you can get 6 of these as main basis for a home theater system.

The only other equivalent [5 speakers] I can think of is the Energy Take 5’s, which also sound very good and are modestly priced, but you’re getting five speakers at once that way. Regardless, these Sony’s are a fabulous, fabulous deal.
